Lung Cancer Program

The experts with the Main Line Health Lung Cancer Program are your partners in preventing, diagnosing and treating all stages of lung cancer. We are dedicated to meeting your physical and emotional health care needs throughout your cancer journey.

Lung cancer screenings

Main Line Health cancer physicians use a low-dose computed tomography (CT) scan to identify lung cancer. When lung cancer is found early, you have more treatment options that can be more effective at destroying cancer cells.

If you are a current or former smoker, your doctor may suggest you have a lung cancer screening. If you have been exposed to carcinogens like asbestos, you also may be recommended for a screening.

We offer lung cancer screenings at eight convenient locations in the Philadelphia suburbs. A specially trained nurse at each location will make sure your scan is read quickly and guide you through the next steps of your care if needed.

Detecting lung cancer has a surprising side effect: The possibility of surviving lung cancer

Until now, there has been no reliable way to detect lung cancer in its earliest, most treatable stage. With no symptoms and no reason to check, early detection had been nearly impossible. Now, a low-dose CT scan can lower the risk of death from lung cancer by 20 percent in high-risk patients.

Lung cancer treatment options

We offer convenient, state-of-the-art cancer care at numerous locations throughout the Philadelphia suburbs. Our skilled doctors offer a full range of cancer therapies, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery. We give you access to the latest treatments, including robotic-assisted lung surgery, photodynamic therapy and immunotherapy.

Access to the latest clinical trials

You can participate in research and clinical trials during your treatment right here at Main Line Health. Clinical trials can help you find more treatment options, even for advanced cancers. By participating in research, you help improve cancer prevention, detection and treatment for the future.

Nurse navigators: your personal guide through cancer treatment

Cancer treatment can be overwhelming and worrisome. At Main Line Health, you have a nurse navigator (a registered nurse with special training) to help you through each stage of care. Your nurse navigator teaches you about your cancer and treatment, advocates for your best interests and helps you stay organized. Our philosophy is to treat the whole person, to ensure a healthy mind, body and spirit.

Your nurse navigator will also help you find financial advisors, social workers and support groups.
