Lankenau Medical Center, Bryn Mawr Hospital and Riddle Hospital earn top recognition from Leapfrog; Paoli Hospital also honored.

Bryn Mawr, PALankenau Medical Center, Bryn Mawr Hospital and Riddle Hospital, all part of Main Line Health, earned a Hospital Safety Grade of A from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety.

Leapfrog assigns letter grades to general hospitals across the country, using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on errors, accidents, injuries and infections. Paoli Hospital, Main Line Health’s other acute care facility, was recognized with a B.

“I am proud that Main Line Health hospitals have once again earned recognition from The Leapfrog Group. Sustaining straight A grades is a testament to the work being done by our teams every day and shows our community they can count on high-quality, comprehensive care that’s close to home,” said Ed Jimenez, President and CEO of Main Line Health. “We focus on these grades because they are critical indicators, providing an independent measure of whether we are achieving our number one priority of patient safety.”

Since Main Line Health began participating in the Leapfrog report in 2020, Bryn Mawr Hospital and Riddle Hospital have received an A grade. Lankenau Medical Center has consecutively received an A grade since the fall of 2023.

“Earning an A means Lankenau Medical Center, Bryn Mawr Hospital and Riddle Hospital all made a true commitment to put patient safety first,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We congratulate the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers who all had a role to play in this achievement.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
