As you approach your 40s, prioritizing your overall well-being takes on even greater significance. Regularly scheduling medical check-ups and screenings to monitor conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes should now be part of your routine.

However, it's also a time to place greater emphasis on your mental health. With the pressures of career, finances and family life on the rise, this phase can be extremely stressful for many individuals. Keeping an eye on your mental well-being should therefore remain a top priority.

There are various indicators of mental health issues to be aware of, such as fluctuations in sleep patterns or mood, headaches or memory loss, uncharacteristic behavior, deviation from your typical routine, increased reliance on drugs or alcohol and abrupt changes in weight.

Dr. Phillip Izzo, a psychiatrist at Mirmont's Outpatient Center, part of Main Line Health, shares advice for this stage in a man's life. Watch the video for more, featuring the story of how one man's management of his mental health with Mirmont's Outpatient Center impacted his life.
