My goal as a heart surgeon is to offer patients the same high level of skill, ingenuity, care, and compassion I would want for my loved ones should they need heart surgery. This is why I am dedicated to providing best-in-class heart care. I hold myself accountable for having the skills to provide all available treatment options'including the newest, most advanced, or technically complex'and the knowledge to know which option is best for each patient. When a patient has options for treatment, I make sure that patient understands each option and how it will impact quality of life. Then, we work together to tailor-make a therapy that will allow the patient to reap the best rewards. I want the best outcomes for all my patients'to have them experience a quick recovery and return for follow up doing far better than when they entered my care. That is my promise to every patient and every referring physician who entrusts me with the care of their patient.

Basel Ramlawi, MD, FACS, FACC
Dr. Ramlawi is a cardiac surgeon who brings more than 12 years of advanced and minimally invasive cardiovascular surgical experience to Main Line Health. His practice encompasses the full spectrum of cardiovascular care with a focus on caring for patients with complex aortic and valvular heart disease. Dr. Ramlawi is a nationally renowned cardiac surgeon using minimally invasive surgical approaches and catheter-based therapies. He has significant experience performing complex valve repair, aortic aneurysm repair, complex aortic root repair, open and hybrid arch reconstruction, thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR), transcatheter mitral valve repair, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), and minimally invasive procedures for the treatment of atrial fibrillation. Dr. Ramlawi serves as Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Main Line Health and Co-Director of the Lankenau Heart Institute. He is widely published in leading peer-reviewed medical journals, lectures extensively both nationally and internationally, and leads multiple prominent clinical trials of innovative cardiovascular therapies.
