Lankenau Medical Center, Bryn Mawr Hospital and Paoli Hospital Recognized by Newsweek as Best Maternity Hospitals 2023

Lankenau Medical Center, Paoli Hospital and Bryn Mawr Hospital

Bryn Mawr, PA Lankenau Medical Center, Bryn Mawr Hospital and Paoli Hospital, part of Main Line Health, have been recognized as Best Maternity Hospitals 2023 by Newsweek.

With this achievement, the three hospitals continue to distinguish themselves as regional leaders in delivering the highest quality of maternity care, demonstrating their ongoing excellence and commitment to care from pregnancy through postpartum. Lankenau and Bryn Mawr each were awarded five ribbons by Newsweek, which is the publication’s top honor for maternity care; Paoli received four ribbons. For Bryn Mawr, the honor marks the fourth consecutive year receiving recognition from the publication.

Presented by Newsweek and consumer data firm Statista Inc., the Best Maternity Hospitals list highlights 384 recipients who provide excellence in maternity services. Overall, 159 hospitals received five ribbons and 225 received four. Newsweek and Statista rely on a comprehensive methodology that supports the data based on the following:

  • A nationwide online survey in which hospital managers and maternity healthcare professionals (such as neonatal care providers and OB/GYNs) were asked to recommend leading maternity hospitals
  • Medical key performance indicator data relevant to maternity care (such as a hospital’s rate of cesarean births)
  • Results from patient satisfaction surveys

“This recognition from Newsweek is a tribute to the excellence, dedication and leadership demonstrated by our hospitals and care team members in delivering safe, equitable and high-quality maternity care,” said Joseph Gobern, MD, MBA, FACOG, system chair, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Main Line Health. “We are extremely proud that patients in our community continue to choose Main Line Health hospitals, knowing we will take care of them and their babies every step of the way.”
