Dr. Ricco is a radiation oncologist on the cancer care teams at Lankenau Medical Center and Riddle Hospital. He specializes in using highly targeted forms of radiation to kill cancer cells and shrink tumors, including external beam radiation therapy (radiation that comes from a machine outside the body) and brachytherapy (radiation that comes from tiny particles placed inside the body, in or near a tumor). Dr. Ricco has experience treating all forms of cancer. He is committed to ensuring patients have access to leading-edge techniques in radiation therapy across all treatable cancers. This includes breast, lung, colorectal, and prostate cancers; cancers of the GI tract (esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, biliary tract), reproductive systems (cervix, uterus, endometrium, ovaries, vagina, vulva in females; testes in males), and urinary tract (bladder, kidneys, ureters); skin and soft tissue cancers; brain and central nervous system cancers; head and neck cancers; and lymphoma. In addition to his expertise treating cancer, Dr. Ricco is a certified specialist in obesity medicine. While this may seem an odd combination of expertise, Dr. Ricco is aware that obesity is associated with an increased risk of cancer and is linked with poorer outcomes. As an obesity specialist, he seeks to help patients with excess weight achieve a healthier weight after completing cancer treatment so they may lower their risk of a cancer recurrence. A native of the Philadelphia area, Dr. Ricco was born at Lankenau Medical Center and grew up in Delaware County. After earning an undergraduate degree from Penn State University, he pursued a medical degree and clinical training in radiation oncology, returning to the area to serve as a community-based cancer care provider. Dr. Ricco practiced in the region for 2 years before joining the Main Line Health medical staff in early 2024.
