Clinical Pastoral Education
Our spiritual care/chaplaincy professionals and Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) chaplain interns are available to meet with and serve patients, families and visitors of diverse cultural backgrounds and spiritual orienting systems, with respectful and compassionate care.
Some of the ways spiritual care and support is provided include:
- Empathetic listening skills and meaning-making
- Spiritual assessment, working in collaboration with the medical team
- Guided meditation and other spiritual modalities
- Support when making difficult medical and end-of-life decisions, including family meetings
- Prayer, ritual and sacramental support
- Spiritual resources, such as religious texts
- Spiritual and religious services for holidays and life transitions
- Assisting with dietary needs related to culture and religion

Our Clinical Pastoral Education program
The Lankenau Medical Center CPE Program offers CPE units throughout the year (see posted schedule below for enrollment updates) at Lankenau Medical Center with clinical placements throughout Main Line Health hospitals, which include Bryn Mawr Hospital, Paoli Hospital, Riddle Hospital and Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital.
Tuition is $650 for first-time CPE students in the 400-hour CPE unit program, offering Level IA, Level IB, Level IIA or Level IIB. Tuition is $500 for returning CPE students.

- The 2025 Summer Intensive Unit, May 27-August 7. Enrollment is open; applications reviewed on a rolling basis.
- The 2025-2026 Extended Unit, October 13-May 15. Enrollment is open; applications reviewed on a rolling basis.
- The 2026 Summer Intensive Unit, May 26-August 6. Enrollment is open; applications reviewed on a rolling basis.
