Riddle awarded as a top-performing hospital in patient safety by the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP).

Media, PA – Riddle Hospital, part of Main Line Health, has been recognized by The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) through its Excellence in Patient Safety Recognition program. The recognition honors Pennsylvania's top-performing hospitals that have demonstrated low rates of health care-associated infections, helping to ensure patients' safety.

"We are honored to be recognized by HAP as a leader in patient safety. At Riddle Hospital and throughout Main Line Health, the safety of our patients and our staff is our first and foremost priority. Each of us plays a role in patient safety that allows us to deliver safe, high-quality and equitable care to our patients and the communities we serve," said Shelly Buck, President, Riddle Hospital.

HAP is recognizing 21 hospitals across Pennsylvania based on their performance during 2021. HAP identifies top-performing hospitals using data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Healthcare Safety Network. To be recognized, hospitals must perform better than the mean standardized infection ratio in three key measures:

  • Central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI)
  • Catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI)
  • Clostridioides difficile infections (C. Diff)

"HAP is proud to recognize the hospital teams and leaders who demonstrated extraordinary work to protect patient safety—even as they were strained by the COVID-19 pandemic and a historic health care workforce crisis," HAP President and CEO Andy Carter said. "These talented teams exemplify the commitment that all health care professionals make to ensuring patients receive safe and high-quality care."
