Age-Friendly Health System – Committed to Care Excellence
Paoli Hospital, part of Main Line Health, has been recognized as an Age-Friendly Health System – Committed to Care Excellence, an achievement that comes as part of the Age-Friendly Health Systems initiative, a national movement to improve health care for older adults. The initiative is based on the 4Ms Framework for Age-Friendly Care, which is a series of practices that address four essential elements of care for older patients: What Matters, Mentation, Medication, and Mobility. The 4Ms Framework ensures healthcare professionals align care with each older adult’s specific health goals and care preferences.
Age-Friendly Health Systems is an initiative of The John A. Hartford Foundation and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) in partnership with the American Hospital Association (AHA) and the Catholic Health Association of the United States (CHA).

National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers
When a breast center achieves accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), it is held to the highest standards of care for patients with diseases of the breast.
A coalition of professional organizations, the NAPBC, works together to provide the most efficient and contemporary breast care using scientific evidence about what works best for patients. NAPBC monitors compliance to standards at each accredited breast center with board leadership from many medical disciplines and upholds nationally recognized quality performance measures for breast cancer treatment.
The NAPBC is administered by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), which for more than 100 years has led national and international initiatives to improve quality in hospitals.
Blue Distinction Centers for maternity and hip and knee replacement
Independence Blue Cross has named Paoli as a Blue Distinction Center in Knee and Hip Replacement and Maternity. The Blue Distinction Centers for Specialty Care® program is a national designation awarded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies to medical facilities that have demonstrated expertise in delivering quality specialty care—which expanded recently to include more robust quality measures focused on improved patient health and safety.
Blue Distinction Centers (BDC) met overall quality measures, developed with input from the medical community. A Local Blue Plan may require additional criteria for providers located in its own service area; for details, contact your Local Blue Plan. Blue Distinction Centers+ (BDC+) also met cost measures that address consumers’ need for affordable healthcare. Each provider’s cost of care is evaluated using data from its Local Blue Plan. Providers in CA, ID, NY, PA, and WA may lie in two Local Blue Plans’ areas, resulting in two evaluations for cost of care; and their own Local Blue Plans decide whether one or both cost of care evaluation(s) must meet BDC+ national criteria. National criteria for BDC and BDC+ are displayed on bcbs.com. Individual outcomes may vary. For details on a provider's in-network status or your own policy's insurance coverage, contact your local Local Blue Plan and ask your provider before making an appointment. Neither Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association nor any Blue Plans are responsible for non-covered charges or other losses or damages resulting from Blue Distinction or other provider finder information or care received from Blue Distinction or other providers.

Paoli Hospital's Wound Healing Center has been certified by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) for its hyperbaric medicine program.
