Paoli Hospital was ranked as the eighth best hospital in the Philadelphia region by U.S. News & World Report, an area that is known across the country and internationally as a hub for health care delivery, research and education. To be continually recognized among the best is a testament to the quality of care that we provide to our patients every day.
In addition to our regional rankings, Paoli Hospital was ranked as high-performing for seven common conditions:

System Magnet® Designation
Main Line Health has received System Magnet® designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the nation's highest award for recognizing excellence in nursing care, which has been awarded to only seven percent of hospitals and 22 health systems in the nation.
Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders designation
Main Line Health hospitals, including Lankenau Medical Center, Bryn Mawr Hospital, Paoli Hospital, Riddle Hospital and Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital, have all received NICHE designation. The NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders) designation indicates an organization’s commitment to elder care excellence by stimulating senior focused-transformation in the culture of health care facilities and achieving patient-centered care for older adults.
Joint Commission “Gold Seal of Approval”
Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award
Paoli Hospital has been named a 2014 and 2015 Guardian of Excellence Award winner by Press Ganey for Patient Experience in Inpatient Care. The hospital received this distinction by reaching the 95th percentile for each reporting period for the award year in patient satisfaction. Paoli also received the award last year for Patient Satisfaction. Press Ganey partners with more than 10,000 health care facilities, including more than half of all U.S. Hospitals, to measure and improve the patient experience. The Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award is a health care industry symbol of achievement. Fewer than five percent of Press Ganey’s clients reach this threshold and consistently maintain it for the one year reporting period.
2015 Mission: Lifeline — Silver EMS
The American Heart Association recognizes Paoli Hospital with a silver award for achieving 85 percent or higher composite adherence to all Mission: Lifeline STEMI Receiving Center Performance Achievement indicators for consecutive 90-day intervals, 75 percent or higher compliance on all Mission: Lifeline STEMI Receiving Center quality measures to improve the quality of care for STEMI patients.
Critical-Care Nurses’ Beacon Award
Our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has been awarded the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) gold-level Beacon Award for Excellence while our Progressive Care Unit has been awarded a silver.
Accreditation as a Chest Pain Center
Paoli earned accreditation from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care for demonstrating a higher level of expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients who may be experiencing a heart attack.
Blue Distinction Centers for Maternity and Knee & Hip Replacement
Independence Blue Cross has named Paoli as a Blue Distinction Center in Knee and Hip Replacement and Maternity. The Blue Distinction Centers for Specialty Care® program is a national designation awarded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies to medical facilities that have demonstrated expertise in delivering quality specialty care—which expanded recently to include more robust quality measures focused on improved patient health and safety.
Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society Accreditation
Paoli Hospital's Wound Healing Center has been certified by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) for its hyperbaric medicine program. The UHMS recognized the Center for its high performance and standards of care, as it demonstrated a commitment to excellent patient care and facility safety.
