Main Line Health-Jefferson Neurosurgery offers expert neurosurgical care at Bryn Mawr Hospital, Paoli Hospital, Riddle Hospital, and Lankenau Medical Center. The team provides comprehensive neurosurgical care for conditions of the brain, back, neck and central nervous system. This includes diagnosis and treatment for common to complex cranial, spinal and nervous system conditions, as well multidisciplinary intervention for stroke, aneurysm and other neurovascular conditions.
Dr. Smith is a board-certified neurosurgeon with fellowship training in interventional neuroradiology. After earning a medical degree at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Dr. Smith completed her neurosurgery residency and interventional neuroradiology fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Smith specializes in endovascular neurosurgery, diagnosing and treating advanced neurovascular conditions, such as stroke, brain aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations, among others. She uses imaging technology to perform minimally invasive procedures through small incisions enabling successful outcomes for even the most complex conditions. Dr. Smith's expertise includes open, microvascular and endovascular approaches to treatment. She performs simple to highly complex surgical procedures including cerebral and spinal angiography, Chiari decompression, craniotomy, endovascular embolization of aneurysms (coils, stents), AVMs, and tumors, mechanical thrombectomy for stroke, shunt for hydrocephalus, microneurosurgery, and wingspan® stenting for intracranial atherosclerosis. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Smith serves as the Main Line Health System Chief of Neurosurgery, leading an expert team of Main Line Health - Jefferson Neurosurgeons, as well as the Co-Medical Director of the Neurosciences Service Line, partnering with service line leadership to advance the strategic priorities of the system.
