Arthur B. Hodess, MD, FACC
I am a cardiovascular medicine physician at Lankenau Heart Institute. I joined Main Line Health after many years on the medical staff at Brandywine Hospital in Chester County, where I was Chief of Cardiology and served in other clinical leadership positions. With the closure of the hospital, it was very important to me to be able to continue caring for individual patients and the community I have served for a long time. I am grateful for the opportunity to do so as a member of the outstanding cardiovascular team at Main Line Health. As a noninvasive cardiologist, I specialize in prevention, diagnosis, and medical management of diseases and conditions that can affect the heart and blood vessels (arteries and veins), including: Coronary artery disease Carotid artery disease Peripheral vascular disease Elevated blood lipid and cholesterol levels High blood pressure Heart valve disease Heart rhythm disorders, such as atrial fibrillationMy practice is largely focused on preventing and treating common forms of heart disease with lifestyle interventions and medications. I also have expertise in advanced forms of echocardiography. When patients need more advanced testing or treatment, I coordinate with my colleagues in cardiovascular imaging, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, and cardiac surgery to expedite appropriate next steps in their care.On a personal note, I am a native of New York City. After completing an undergraduate degree at Boston University, I returned to New York to pursue a medical degree at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, then came to Philadelphia to train at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where I did an internal medicine residency and a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine. Shortly after, I moved to Chester County, where I have lived and worked ever since.
