Vaccination and tobacco-free requirements
Main Line Health is committed to the health and wellness of its employees. As part of our culture of health and well-being, we require all Main Line Health applicants to be free of nicotine, tobacco and tobacco products, and to comply with our listed immunity/vaccine requirements for common disease listed below. This is for the protection of our employees as well as our patients, visitors and families.
Main Line Health tobacco policy
Our Tobacco and Nicotine Use Impact on Employment Policy is aimed at reducing the use of tobacco and nicotine products among Main Line Health employees. Under this policy, applicants must certify that they have not used tobacco products or nicotine in any form in the 90-day period prior to submitting an application to Main Line Health. Applicants must also assure that they will remain tobacco free during their employment with the health system. If you have smoked cigarettes or used nicotine products within the last 90 days, please wait until you have been free of these products for 90 days before submitting your application.
Main Line Health vaccination policy
After you have received a job offer from Main Line Health, you will be asked to visit Main Line Health Occupational Health to receive the below listed vaccinations free of charge. New hires may require blood work or vaccinations depending on the personal medical records that are brought in, Each contagious disease below has specific vaccine requirements. If you have received these vaccinations elsewhere, we require you to bring official documentation of all vaccines and labs where you received them. This will make your experience easier and more efficient.
- TB testing – If you have a QFT (Quantiferon) lab test result dated within six months of your post-offer exam date, please bring this with you. Otherwise you will have a blood test at your occupational health exam to meet this requirement.
- Varicella – We accept proof of immunity to varicella (chickenpox) via a positive IgG blood test or documentation of two doses of varicella vaccine. Once the two-dose vaccine series is begun, it must be completed in order to meet the requirement for employment.
- Measles/mumps/rubella – We accept proof of immunity to MMR as defined by two documented vaccines, one month apart, occurring after the first birthday. Lab titers showing positive IgG antibodies are also acceptable.
- Hepatitis B – The hepatitis B vaccination program is offered to employees whose jobs place them at risk of exposure to blood, body fluid, or human tissue. Vaccination is strongly encouraged. If you wish to decline the hepatitis B vaccine, please complete a declination form which will be provided to you at your occupational health appointment examination.
- Pertussis – Although offered to everyone, TDAP is a requirement of on-boarding employees with clinical contact.
- Influenza – During our annual mandatory flu vaccination campaign, new hires will be expected to comply with Main Line Health flu vaccination requirements. If you have written proof of your annual influenza vaccination, please bring this to your occupational health appointment.
Applicants who have a need to file a religious exemption should discuss the process with a recruiter. Application for medical exemption can be made through occupational health at the time of your occupational assessment.
