Outpatient concussion rehab and therapy

After suffering a concussion, it is important to get rest—both cognitive and physical—until the symptoms can be evaluated by a physician. At the Bryn Mawr Rehab Concussion Center, one of our skilled clinicians with expertise in managing the complex symptoms often associated with a concussion injury can help diagnose the condition and recommend appropriate treatments. We also offer a subthreshold treatment approach with specific therapy techniques designed to help concussion patients who have persisting symptoms recover as soon as possible.

Once the treatment staff determines a patient is ready, the patient can expect to participate in a variety of innovative concussion exercises, including concussion test for sports and training for return to sports, classroom simulation to prepare for return to school, and training to resume work or household activities. With concussion testing we use specialized technology, such as ImPACT Testing, the SMART Balance Master and Dynavision D2. As each concussion patient is different, so are the treatments—and the concussion recovery time frame depends on concussion severity and each individual’s healing process.

Our specialized post-concussion treatment program is specifically designed to overcome whatever ongoing challenges and long-term effects remain after a person regularly attends outpatient concussion therapy. We offer post-concussion care at Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital in Malvern, Pennsylvania, and Main Line Health Center in Concordville—both in the western suburbs of Philadelphia.
