Main Line Health recognized by Greater Philadelphia Business Coalition on Health for quality and safety
The Greater Philadelphia Business Coalition on Health (GPBCH) held an award ceremony at the Museum of the American Revolution to mark a special milestone of the fifth anniversary of the GPBCH Regional Leapfrog Quality & Safety Awards. The event recognized hospitals across the region for performance excellence in patient quality and safety.
The ceremony celebrated organizations demonstrating consistent high performance in quality and safety. A special highlight of the event was keynote speaker Leah Binder, President and CEO of The Leapfrog Group, who spoke about how Leapfrog’s survey measures and Safety Grades continue to drive safer, higher-quality and more transparent care.
Main Line Health was among the health systems recognized. Awards are based on 2025 Leapfrog survey results and specific quality and safety measures. Main Line Health recognitions included:
- Bryn Mawr Hospital
- Lankenau Medical Center — Most Improved (2024–2025)
- Five-year honorees included:
- Bryn Mawr Hospital
- Riddle Hospital
Earlier in the day, Tom Belmont, President and CEO of Greater Philadelphia Business Coalition on Health, and Leah Binder joined Main Line Health and Riddle Hospital leadership, including Ed Jimenez, for a roundtable discussion focused on the state of healthcare in Delaware County following the closure of Crozer Health one year ago.
During the discussion, Main Line Health leaders shared how Riddle Hospital responded to the significant increase in patient demand following Crozer’s closure. Jim Paradis, President, Riddle Hospital, recognized the extraordinary efforts of physicians, nurses and staff for their dedication, commitment and compassion in caring for a large influx of new patients while maintaining high-quality, safe care.
Emergency Department volume at Riddle rose 35% in the first 60 days following Crozer’s closure, while inpatient census increased by 50 to 70 patients per day. This immediate and sustained shift placed considerable pressure on patient flow, staffing and capacity, requiring rapid operational adjustments. Despite these challenges, volumes remain high, and the team’s resilience and commitment continue to stand out.
