Main Line Health Colorectal Surgery Program highlighted through Dr. Marks’ recent honors

Main Line Health’s Colorectal Surgery Program has long been recognized as a national leader in advancing minimally invasive techniques, improving patient outcomes and shaping the future of surgical education. That reputation continues to grow through the work of John Marks, MD, FACS, FASCRS, whose recent accomplishments reflect both his individual leadership and the strength of the program he represents.

He has been recognized by Newsweek as a top colorectal surgeon in the nation. He has also been asked by IRCAD, which is the leading minimally invasive surgical training facility in the world (located in Strasbourg, France) and is opening a North American training center in North Carolina, to be the organization’s Colorectal Director.
Furthermore, Dr. Marks is one of seven Lankenau Institute for Medical Research scientists recognized by Stanford University as among the top 2% in the world. Stanford identifies the most cited scholars in their fields. Dr. Marks, based at Lankenau Medical Center, is the James Widener Ray Endowed Chair in Colorectal Surgery. He is active widely in clinical, research, and educational initiatives and serves as president of the International Society of Laparoscopic and Colorectal Surgeons.
These accomplishments highlight not only Dr. Marks’ individual leadership but also the strength of Main Line Health’s nationally respected Colorectal Surgery Program. For decades, the program has been at the forefront of advancing minimally invasive techniques, training the next generation of surgeons and improving outcomes for patients with complex colorectal conditions. Our team’s pioneering work and commitment to innovation have earned recognition across the globe, and Dr. Marks’ honors underscore the caliber of expertise patients can expect when choosing Main Line Health for their care.
