Main Line Health Hospitals Nationally Recognized for Top Grades in Quality Performance and Patient Safety in Fall 2021 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Report

Paoli Hospital

Radnor, PA – November, 2021 – Bryn Mawr Hospital, Paoli Hospital and Riddle Hospital received a top grade of ‘A’ with Lankenau Medical Center receiving a grade of ‘B’ in the just released Fall 2021 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. The Hospitals are graded on quality and safety - a national distinction that recognizes hospitals’ achievements in protecting patients from harm and providing safer health care.

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization committed to health care quality and safety. Twice a year, the Leapfrog Group assigns grades of A, B, C, D and F to roughly 2,600 general acute care hospitals nationwide. The grades are based on a hospital’s performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harm to patients in their care. Developed under the guidance of a national Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is a composite score consisting of up to 27 national performance metrics of patient safety measures. Its methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and results are free to the public.

“These grades reflect our longstanding commitment to patient safety, quality and equity enhancement and we’re extremely proud of this recognition. Each of our acute care hospitals is committed to these areas that ensure our staff and patients are safe, with process improvement tools in place to continually enhance outcomes in measurable ways. I am confident in Lankenau’s ability to provide the highest quality of care as it continues its upward trajectory in positively impacting future safety grades,” says Jack Lynch, III, President and Chief Executive Officer at Main Line Health.

About The Leapfrog Group

Founded in 2000 by large employers and other purchasers, The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization driving a movement for giant leaps forward in the quality and safety of American health care.
