About

Premraj Makkuni, MD

Dr. Makkuni is a general cardiologist specializing in all aspects of heart health for adults—from prevention of heart disease to management of heart problems requiring long-term treatment as well as care of hospitalized patients with acute heart conditions. He joined Lankenau Heart Institute in 2023, after 13 years in practice outside the region. Much of Dr. Makkuni’s practice is dedicated to caring for people with or at risk for common heart and vascular (blood vessel) disorders such as coronary artery disease, high cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, valvular heart disease, abnormal heart rhythms, and heart failure. He has a particular interest in evaluating and managing disorders of the heart valves and cardiomyopathies (disorders of heart muscle that can lead to heart failure). He also takes great pleasure in helping older patients with heart disease live their best life. In general, Dr. Makkuni finds building long-term relationships with patients in support of their heart health is the most rewarding aspect of his work as a cardiologist.
