Melissa Sheekey, MA
Melissa is an Advanced Certified Relapse Prevention Specialist and works with clients with substance use disorders, emotional trauma, and chronic relapse syndrome. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Widener University in 2015, and completed her master's degree in counseling psychology with a focus in addictions in 2020.
Melissa entered the field of counseling in 2016 as an outpatient therapist at Crozer Recovery Center and worked to coordinate treatment planning with Delaware County Treatment Court, helping to advocate that patients continue treatment options in lieu of punitive consequences. She dedicated five years of service to this organization and then in 2021, became an inpatient behavioral health therapist at Mirmont Treatment Centers. She is now the primary facilitator for Mirmont's relapse prevention therapy program working both individually and at a group level to help clients develop insight into their relapse histories and onboard effective prevention skills. Melissa also works to provide education and support to behavioral health patients to better understand relapse syndrome and the most strategic approach for treatment. Melissa worked with her team to implement a 12-step alumni meeting to support those who have successfully engaged in the RPT program.
