I was born and raised in rural Louisiana, and I attended LSU on a football scholarship. I attended Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, graduating in 1972. Then, I made the big step coming to the North for my residency training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. My wife and I fell in love with the Philadelphia area, and we decided to stay here after completion of my residency.
For the first few years in practice, I had a part-time private practice and a part-time job at Hall Mercer at Pennsylvania Hospital. In 1980, I went to full time private practice at the Institute of Pennsylvania Hospital. In 1987, I joined the staff at Bryn Mawr Hospital, and I relocated my practice to Bryn Mawr, where it still remains.
I'm a Distinguished Life Fellow in the American Psychiatric Association and the American Society for Adolescent Psychiatry. As noted in my personal philosophy, I treat people with Anxiety Disorders and Depressive Disorders, and also, those who are experiencing problems in their relationships with their spouse or partner, parents, or children.
