Neuro Hand Lab: Optimizing Hand Position and Function After Neurologic Injury

This course provides occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants with practical, evidence-informed strategies to optimize hand positioning and functional recovery following neurologic injury. Through a combination of pre-course virtual learning and hands-on lab sessions, participants will explore upper extremity and hand anatomy, assessment of motor and physical impairments, clinical decision-making for orthotic selection, and custom splint fabrication techniques. Attendees will gain skills in evaluating patient needs, selecting and modifying mechanical and therapeutic splints, and developing effective splinting plans to support functional outcomes across a variety of neurologic conditions.
