About travel health services at Main Line Health

Whether you’re traveling for school, business or leisure, our travel health experts can provide itinerary specific health and safety education, as well as recommend immunizations for your destination. We use comprehensive travel health software to gather information from multiple sources, including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), to ensure the most current health risk information available and help you stay healthy and safe while away.

We also personalize programs to prepare groups for international travel — including corporate and employee events. Programs can be performed onsite or here at our facilities.

Once you've been immunized at Main Line Health, you can head off on your trip knowing you’ve done everything in your power to protect yourself and others while traveling. For best protection, we recommend visiting our Travel Health Clinic at least four to six weeks prior to your departure date. We also carry all vaccinations required for worldwide travel, including yellow fever, malaria and more.

Our available travel health services include:

  • Customized, itinerary-specific travel health and safety consultations
  • Travel vaccination services
  • Corporate travel
  • Group travel education and vaccination sessions

Frequently asked questions

We understand that you probably have health questions ahead of your travel. In an effort to be safe, responsible and conscientious, many patients ask us the following:

What should I expect to receive during my travel consultation?

When you come in for your travel consultation, you’ll receive:

  • Medical history overview
  • Travel itinerary review
  • Disease and illness prevention education
  • Travel safety education
  • Required and/or recommended vaccinations
  • Health and immunization documentation

Why do I need a travel consultation?

Everyone has their own unique health history, travel itinerary, vaccine history and plans for their trip. To properly determine recommended vaccinations and provide traveler’s prescriptions, a complete review of all of this information along with health and safety education is necessary.

Will my insurance cover my travel health consultation and vaccinations?

Coverage depends on your personal insurance carrier and your level of coverage. You’ll receive a detailed invoice of services provided which you can submit to your carrier.

Are any vaccinations required for my trip?

In some areas of the world, there are vaccine requirements to enter the country or certain areas of the country. We will review all of this information with you, as well as provide any required vaccines and proper documentation for your trip during your travel health consultation.

How far in advance should I schedule my appointment?

We recommend scheduling your appointment approximately four to six weeks prior to your departure date.

How long can I expect to spend in the office for my travel consultation?

Travel consultations typically last about one hour, but can be longer depending on individual medical history, locations being visited, length of stay or if multiple people plan to attend the consultation.

What information should I be prepared to bring with me for my consultation?

Any and all vaccination records for those traveling in your group, along with a copy of a detailed itinerary for your trip indicating specific areas being visited and any planned activities.
