We're Riddle Hospital. We’ve Been your Hospital for Fifty Years and Will
be for Many More.
Riddle Hospital is conveniently located in Media, outside of
Philadelphia, Pa. The hospital offers a full range of health
care services including maternity
services, orthopedic care and cardiovascular
care. All of our services are aided by a dedicated team of health
care professionals and advanced technology. Health Center 4, a LEED
certified gold building, houses the Rothman Institute, a variety of
outpatient programs and a new state of the art surgical center. Riddle
also offers community health services
intended to inform and educate the population we serve. The hospital
opened a new and expanded emergency
department in the Fall of 2014.
Having received numerous accolades and
awards, Riddle Hospital has been nationally recognized by ratings
organizations for its high quality patient care. The hospital has been
recognized by The Joint Commission, The nation's premier health care
accrediting organization, on key quality measures, a distinction for the
second year in a row—an achievement only seven percent of hospitals have
received. Additionally Riddle has received awards from HealthGrades for
its maternity services, and
the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care for consistent and quality cardiac
Riddle Hospital is committed to providing the services and health care
our community needs to take charge of their health and make the right
decisions for themselves and their families. When Samuel Riddle—noted
sportsman and Delaware County native—left in trust the land and
financial support to build a hospital, our mission to provide quality
health care to our community began. Fifty years later, we remain
steadfast in this commitment.
Riddle Hospital to Receive Historic $16 Million Gift from John
(Wednesday, July 27, 2016) Riddle Hospital, part of Main Line Health,
shall receive a $16 million gift from the trust created in the Will of
John Bancker Gribbel, who passed away in 1947 at the age of 63. Gribbel
and his family were dedicated patients of the former “Media Hospital”
and of Dr. Charles H. Schoff, who founded that hospital in 1909. Dr.
Schoff was also the physician caring for Samuel D. Riddle, who upon his
death in January of 1951, stipulated that part of his estate be used to
build a bigger and better hospital for Media and its surrounding
communities, which he dearly loved. In 1963, as a direct result of Mr.
Riddle’s wishes, Riddle Hospital was opened.
