The cardiac arrhythmia team’s around-the-clock monitoring program allows
it to continually receive messages electronically from implanted loop
recorders (ILR) and implanted cardiac monitoring (ICM) technologies.
ILRs and ICMs are placed under the skin during a short, outpatient
procedure and are used to identify the quantity and frequency of
heartbeat irregularities. These devices can also monitor how efficiently
the heart pumps blood. Patients at Lankenau who receive implanted
cardiac monitoring devices benefit from a comprehensive educational
program and ongoing support.
