What’s a typical day like for you?

I volunteer at the the Palm Tree Consignment Shop, so my day’s activities are always changing. However, I’m usually straightening up and organizing the shop, making it look more attractive to our customers.

What made you want to become a volunteer at Paoli?

I love clothes, and I love to shop, so this was a perfect fit. It’s exciting to see all the new merchandise that comes in. As a retired person, volunteering was also a good opportunity for me to have some structure in my life.

What is your favorite thing about volunteering at Paoli?

I like having something to wake up and go do every day. I really enjoy working with the other women at the Palm Tree, and the customers we serve. Sometimes, they’ll ask you for a second opinion in the fitting room and we’re always happy to help and interact with our shoppers.

How does it make you feel to be able to give back to patients and the community in this way?

I love giving back! You get out of volunteering what you put into it, and I find that it helps me just as much as it helps others.

Would you recommend volunteering at Paoli?

Absolutely! We always talk about what a great time we have at the Palm Tree, and I’d recommend similar opportunities to others, too.
