Many crafters participate in this two-day event, held on the first Thursday and Friday after Thanksgiving. Volunteers and donations are always needed for booths, baked goods, holiday plants, and white elephants. Many volunteers are needed to play an active role in this delightful fund-raiser. Opportunities for participation include helping with the White Elephant tables by donating, pricing, and selling items as well as cleaning up. The bake table always appreciates donations of homemade baked goods and assistance with selling. There can never be too many goodies to sell. Solicitation and donations of Raffle prizes in coordination with the Raffle Chairmen and selling of Raffle tickets helps tremendously. For more information contact the Women’s Board Administrative Assistant at 610.645.2139.
The Annual Golf Invitational is a tradition of more than two decades. This event entertains approximately 120 golfers with a buffet lunch and 18 holes of golf. Many volunteers assist throughout the day. Following the golf tournament, all are invited to enjoy cocktails and a delicious dinner. Corporations sponsor many of the participants, helping to make the Golf Invitational successful. If you are a golfer, get your friends together and participate. If you are not a golfer, volunteer to be a hostess or make it a lovely evening out and join the group for a delicious dinner.
Each spring, as at the Holiday Fair, many crafters participate in this two-day event usually held in early May. Volunteers and donations are always needed for booths, baked goods, spring plants and the white elephant table. Many volunteers are needed to play an active role in this major fund-raiser. For several years departments have graciously organized and donated theme baskets to be raffled. Think about what fun and interesting theme your department can put together. There is always great anticipation with regard to the finished product. An hour or so of your time to sell tickets and or clean-up at the end of the day is also appreciated.
Tree of Life
A large evergreen tree on the hospital grounds is decorated with hundreds of lights and lighted for the public to enjoy from early December to early January. Each light represents a gift of love from a donor to honor or remember a loved one, or to express appreciation for something special. The lighting ceremony is held on the first Monday after Thanksgiving. All donors are encouraged to attend this magical moment. In addition to the lighted tree, a corresponding tree decorated with Moravian stars is placed in the hospital lobby with a memorial book identifying the donors and those remembered. Volunteers are welcome to participate in this meaningful event.
