Sharon Gera
Practice Philosophy

Sharon is a behavioral health and certified eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapist as well as a Consultant In Training (CIT) at Mirmont Treatment Center in Lima, Pennsylvania. She earned her master’s degree in social service from Bryn Mawr College. She became a Certified Trauma Professional and is part of Mirmont’s trauma treatment team. Through the application of a focused EMDR model, Sharon helps clients access positive inner resources and work through traumatic memories. In her role, she helps clients discover connections between their addiction and traumas while teaching them coping skills and self-soothing techniques. Sharon has worked with adults at all levels of care, including inpatient and outpatient settings. She facilitates weekly experiential groups for patients at Mirmont that incorporate psychodrama and experiential therapy. Sharon utilizes a strength-based approach that engages people’s investment in their own vision of healing. She brings psycho-education, compassion, empowerment and a sense of hope that healing is possible.
