Practice Philosophy

Scott is the director of trauma services at Mirmont Treatment Center and director/founder of the Phoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy in West Chester and Media, Pennsylvania. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, an EMDR consultant, board-certified practitioner of sociometry, psychodrama, and group psychotherapy. He is also a certified experiential therapist, supervisor and trainer. He is an adjunct professor at Bryn Mawr College’s Graduate School of Social Work, he facilitates multiple ongoing experiential trauma therapy training groups in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and he regularly presents at national and international events. Scott serves on the board of the International Society of Experiential Professionals (ISEP) and the Executive Council of the American Society of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama (ASGPP) while also chairing the national Research Committee and Professional Liaison Committee. He has published multiple articles about the application of experiential therapy with addiction and trauma. He co-edited the autobiography of the founder of psychodrama and sociometry and serves as junior co-editor of the first international book series on psychodrama. Scott is the recipient of numerous national and international awards, including the 2020 Emerging Social Work Leader Award from the National Association of Social Workers and the 2019 Group Work Practice Award from the Association of Specialists in Group Work.
