Kidney transplant can improve life, longevity
If you've been living with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and kidney failure, it may be time to consider kidney transplant. While kidney transplant is not a cure for kidney failure, it can vastly improve quality of life—and promote longer life—for patients with CKD.
The Main Line Health Kidney Transplant Program at Lankenau Medical Center in the suburbs of Philadelphia has a history of excellence in living and deceased donor kidney transplantation. Since 1994, when we performed our first kidney transplant operation at Lankenau, our team has helped many patients with kidney failure return to leading healthy, productive lives.
For more than 20 years Lankenau Medical Center's kidney transplant team has been restoring the lives of patients with kidney failure. To date we have performed over 600 kidney transplants.
Why choose Main Line Health for kidney transplant
Our transplant team is skilled in every aspect of the transplant process from pre-transplant evaluation to testing and pre- and post-transplant care—all at the indoor health complex at Lankenau Medical Center. Patients also choose us because we have:
- Excellent patient outcomes. Our kidney transplant patient survival rates as well as graft (transplanted kidney) survival rates consistently meet or exceed regional and national averages.
- Personal contact and 24/7 support. Once in our program, you'll have a personal team actively working on your behalf to move you through the process, with nurse coordinators always just a phone call away, day or night.
- Convenience. Every aspect of transplant, all in one place, with free parking. To add to the convenience, you may choose to get additional testing at a hospital or health center close to you, once you have been evaluated by the kidney transplant team at Lankenau.
Our kidney transplant patient survival rates as well as graft (transplanted kidney) survival rates consistently meet or exceed regional and national averages.
Our recent procedural milestone, combined with our program's performance record in kidney transplant care, has earned us recognition as an Aetna Institutes of Excellence® transplant facility for kidney transplantation.
