Mindfulness meditation and yoga for mind, body and spirit
Yoga is a mental, physical and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word itself means “to unite,” referring to its intention of bringing into balance, mind, body and spirit—within oneself and in harmony with the universe.
Since its widespread adoption in Western culture, numerous scientific studies have pointed to the healing benefits of yoga for a range of conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, chronic pain, anxiety and depression, and even heart disease.
While it is body movement at the core of yoga - it is the "stillness within" that allows yoga practitioners to connect with their highest selves. Mindfulness meditation and yoga can improve health, heightening the relaxation state and the parasympathetic response.
Mindfulness meditation and yoga classes
Whether you’re just experiencing mindfulness meditation for the first time or you have had some experience with these practices, you will benefit from individual as well as small group sessions. Classes are held in-person or through a combination of in-person and virtual sessions at Dee Adams Center for Integrative and Regenerative Medicine, part of Main Line Health, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, outside of Philadelphia.
Yoga and mindfulness
Yoga can also improve flexibility by applying dynamic stretching principles. This is a one-hour, alignment-based, all-levels yoga and mindfulness class that synchronizes breath, mind and movement.
Mindfulness meditation involves being present from moment to moment, with an attitude of non-judgment and loving kindness towards oneself. Mindfulness meditation provides an opportunity to learn how to work with your mind in a skillful way.
This is a one-hour class in which you’ll practice mindful attention to the present moment—a subtle practice that can be developed over time.
