Many people struggle to balance family, work and the responsibilities of caring for an aging family member, or one with many health challenges that affect daily living.

Caregivers have found that Main Line Adult Day Center is an economic and family-friendly alternative to in-home care, care in a nursing home or assisted living facility. For a cost of approximately $7 per hour, the Main Line Adult Day Care Center provides an interactive, safe and secure environment for those who need supervised daily care, whether that care is transitional following hospital discharge, a few hours per day, a few days per week, or ongoing full-time daily care.

Main Line Adult Day Center gives our clients the freedom to remain vital members of their community and family, while giving purpose and structure to their day. For caregivers, Main Line Adult Day Center offers piece of mind, security and assistance in balancing life and care giving responsibilities.

The program at Main Line Adult Day Center

Our non-profit program is a partnership with Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church and licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging and is designed for adults aged 18 and older, with physical or cognitive disabilities who cannot be left alone at home during the day.

Qualified, well-trained and caring staff provides your loved one with a wide range of health, rehabilitation and social services to support our members in achieving and maintaining the highest possible level of independence, with the goal of continuing to live at home in the community.

Meaningful, enjoyable and personalized activities are hallmarks of Main Line Adult Day Center. Feelings of isolation and depression are reduced when social interaction and creativity are encouraged in the daily activities of the center.

Medical model of care

A medical model of care, each center is staffed with the support of a registered nurse who provides health screenings and oversight that fit the needs of each client. The nurse can provide feedback to family members and the client’s physician on newly developed symptoms or a change in health status, often avoiding a hospitalization.

Our on-site nurse can address healthcare related issues and our professional staff provides programming to stimulate your loved one socially, cognitively and physically. Many of our members have dementia, or other chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, Parkinson’s disease, arthritis, brain injury, post-stroke limitations and developmental disability.

We have a strong history of providing high-quality and individualized care for functionally impaired adults:

  • Medication administration and monitoring of vital signs and medical conditions
  • Personal care, bathing and incontinence care
  • Nutrition counseling
  • Physical, occupational and speech therapy
  • Caregiver’s support group to help with your stress, help you with care issues and connect you to other needed services

Features of the program

Located in a modernized two-story house adjacent to Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, the center offers a more personalized alternative to larger adult care facilities, with an intimate living room, dining room and upstairs activity room, accessible by elevator. There is also an indoor and outdoor garden where your loved one can participate in the Horticultural Therapy program, or just enjoy being in fresh air with flowers and plants.

We have many meaningful and stimulating activities to strengthen physical, functional and cognitive abilities that will engage and entertain your loved one and promote independence. A typical day at Main Line Adult Day Center could include any of the following activities:

  • Breakfast, hot lunch and a snack (special diets are accommodated)
  • Music and entertainment

  • Card and game groups
  • Patio gardening
  • Movies and slide shows
  • Cognitive fitness activities
  • Inter-generational programs with local schools and child care centers
