Practice Philosophy

After more than two decades of performing primary and complex joint replacement surgery, I still love helping people walk more comfortably. It is all I want to do. Having had two hip replacements myself has made me a better joint surgeon because I fully understand the perioperative and rehab experience. Unlike many joint surgeons, I do not take any shortcuts in providing the best practice protocols both before, during AND after my patient is discharged from the hospital. When there is an important concern from the patient or family, I am involved. My patients have easy access to me and that is what I want for my patients. My motto is "University level care delivered with a personal touch". My patients never feel like they are on an assembly line. I am present for 100% of my patient's surgery. To sum up my patient philosophy, I would say that I prefer to practice like an Amish style craftsman offering warm and highly skilled techniques to help my patients recover quickly and return to an active lifestyle.

About Stuart L. Gordon, MD

After graduating from Jefferson Medical College in 1981, I did two years of General Surgery(including 6 months on the Cardiac Surgery service) and then went to NYC to study orthopedic surgery at the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. I also did a rotation at the Hospital for Special Surgery. I was fortunate to work side by side with Richard Rothman MD and Robert Booth MD in the Rothman Adult Reconstructive Joint Fellowship at both Thomas Jefferson University and Pennsylvania Hospitals.

I started my solo practice in Delaware County which later grew into the Liberty Division of Premier Orthopedics. I went back into an academic position 5 years ago to become the Chief of the Cooper University Hip and Knee service. Teaching residents was such a wonderful and fulfilling opportunity and I immensely enjoyed taking care of both highly complex patients and also underserved patients. Since I live on the Main Line, I found the lengthy commute to New Jersey difficult and am now so pleased to continue my career working at Paoli Hospital just 20 minutes from home. My wife is a TJUH gastroenterologist and we have three adult children and three adorable howling beagles.
