Health: The life-threatening exercise syndrome that almost ended a wedding

It’s an illness caused by certain kinds of exercise that are often mistaken for muscle soreness. But if it’s not treated quickly it can lead to life-threatening organ failure.

It’s called rhabdomyolysis and it occurs when muscle, for an unknown reason, breaks down and releases toxins that can cause kidney failure.

For a Delaware County woman, it came at the worst possible time—days before her wedding. She shares her story with CBS3 and thanks the team at Riddle Hospital for their care—and their compassion.
