Riddle Hospital is first hospital in Delaware County to offer vital service
(Media, Pa.) – Riddle Hospital, part of Main Line Health, has been fitted with a prescription medicine drop box to properly dispose of unneeded, unwanted or expired medications. Riddle Hospital partnered with the Delaware County District Attorney’s office to become the first Delaware County hospital to be fitted with a prescription medicine drop box.
“We’ll take prescription medicine of any kind and properly dispose of it,” says Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan. “Riddle is the first Delaware County hospital to have this box and it’s a great thing. The boxes in all of our police stations in the area have been effective, the thing here is that there is information and security readily available and it cannot be tampered with.”
The drop box, located in the Riddle Hospital main lobby, offers a secure way to properly dispose of any type of medicine, keeping drugs safe from misuse while also protecting the environment.
“We chose this drop box location for that reason,” explains Jeshahnton (Shaun) Essex, Vice President, Administration, Riddle Hospital. “It’s visible to the public and to our employees, but also visible for the patients we treat.”
Riddle Hospital joins Lankenau Medical Center and Bryn Mawr Hospital as the Main Line Health hospitals that have been outfitted with a prescription medicine drop box. Paoli Hospital is scheduled to unveil their drop box within the next several weeks. Other medicine drop box locations in the western Philadelphia suburbs include:
Chester County – West Goshen Police Department, 1025 Paoli Pike; Chester County Sheriff’s Office, 201 West Market Street
Delaware County – Havertown Police Department, 201 West Front Street, Media; Havertown Police Department, 101 Darby Road
Montgomery County – Lower Merion Police Department, 71 East Lancaster Avenue; Plymouth Township Police Department,700 Belvoir Road
