Hazel Guinto-Ocampo, MD, Chief of Pediatric Emergency Services at Nemours duPont Pediatrics/Bryn Mawr Hospital, writes that, from 1997–2007, an average of 20,820 cases of children less than or equal to 19 years of age were treated for sledding-related injuries in U.S. emergency departments each year.
