My approach to patient care is the same with every patient, regardless of the nature of their problem. I spend as much time as needed to get to know the patient, understand their problem, and tailor a care plan to address their concern. That office visit may take 5 minutes or it could take 45 if someone has a complex problem, requires a translator, or is hard of hearing. The visit also may lead to a discussion of things a patient can do without my help, such as adjust their diet to help shrink their hemorrhoids. Patients often remark that I am unique in treating them like a human being. As a doctor, I cannot imagine treating patients any other way.
