This one-session class helps the expectant parents and grandparents prepare for the new baby’s arrival. A pediatrician (when available) and/or an RN childbirth educator will speak on such topics as selecting a pediatrician, the normal newborn immunizations, caring for your newborn, readying your home for your baby, and when to call the pediatrician. You’ll learn helpful hints about understanding your newborn and gain important information about car seats, infant safety, safe sleep practices, poison prevention, choosing baby furniture and much more. Participants will leave class with printed resources for future reference. This is not a CPR class. Infant CPR classes are offered by the American Red Cross.
Please note that this is not an infant care class, as demonstrations on bathing and diapering will be offered during your hospital stay.
The class fee is $48 per expectant couple and $10 per grandparent couple when attending with expectant couple. Please call 1.866.CALL.MLH (225.5654) to register additional people.
We will take lots of breaks including a break long enough for you to dine locally for lunch.
