Paoli Hospital’s 10th Annual Trauma Symposium will feature presentations on geriatric trauma and new advances in trauma care. In addition, case studies of famous people with a focus on blunt head and thoracic-abdominal trauma, penetrating trauma, and patient advocacy will be discussed. The program will end with a panel presentation on the journey of an orthopedic trauma survivor.

This program is designed for physicians, nurses, mid-level providers, pre-hospital emergency medical service personnel and all other interested allied health care professionals.

At the conclusion of the symposium participants should be able to discuss the most current trends in trauma care specific to geriatric and orthopedic trauma as well as lessons learned from historical trauma cases and the impact trauma has on patients, families and health care providers. Additional objectives include:

  • Stating specific interventions that should be considered when caring for a geriatric trauma patient
  • Recognizing clinical issues specific to thoracic, abdominal and head trauma
  • Identifying specific strategies or new advances to implement as part of a continuing improvement process
  • Recognizing the social, emotional, ethical, personal and logistical issues that arise during the care of trauma patients
  • Demonstrating enhanced communication with patients, family members and colleagues

This program has been approved for three hours of AMA Category 1 CME credit and three hours of patient safety CME credit approval pending. Contact hours for the following disciplines have been applied for: OT/PT, social work, nursing and EMS.
