This interactive two-hour class will discuss comfort measures beyond the breathing and relaxation techniques that are taught during the regular Prepared Childbirth classes. Topics to be discussed and practiced will include birth balls, massage and pressure points, hot and cold therapies, and additional positions and non-medical techniques for comfort and aiding in the progression of labor and birth.
Class participants are encouraged to bring two bed pillows, a hand or bath towel and a birth ball to class.
This class is in addition to the basics taught during Prepared Childbirth classes. Completion at a traditional Prepared Childbirth Series or One Day Class or having given birth within the last five years is a pre-requisite to attending this class. Basic breathing and relaxation techniques are not taught during this class.
Childbirth Education Classes are offered to clients delivering their baby at a Main Line Health hospital—Lankenau Medical Center, Bryn Mawr, Paoli and Riddle hospitals. |Location:||This class is located in the Pennypacker Auditorium: Enter via Warden Lobby (main entrance) off Old Lancaster Road. There is a garage next to this entrance. Once in Warden Lobby make a left at gift shop follow hallway down and around to the right. At the end of the hallway make a left and take the AC elevator (on the left) to 1st floor. Hallway in front of you for "Floor 1 A" (green sign). Follow the hallway to Rotunda - Pennypacker Auditorium is to the left. |
