Couple Known for Philanthropy to Support Nursing Excellence at Hospital
(Media, Pa.) – The Associated Auxiliaries of Riddle Hospital will be hosting the Man O’War Gala on Saturday, April 16 at The Drexelbrook in Drexel Hill, PA, and the honorees will be Jayne and Walter Garrison. Serving as Honorary Chairs for the Gala are Sally and Stephen Holub. The event features an extraordinary Silent Auction, Music by The Philly Party Band and a formal dinner showcasing foods from around the world to tie in with the couple’s love of travel.
The Garrisons have been actively involved in serving the Delaware County non-profit and educational community since 1953, as well as volunteering on numerous boards in the Philadelphia region and beyond. Walt Garrison served as CEO and Board Chair of CDI Corp. during his 36 years with the company, where he worked to build an organization of leading engineering and technical support services. He presently continues his role as Chairman of the Board at CDI Corp. Jayne and Walter also have leading roles with the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia, The Boy Scouts, the Delaware County Historical Society, The Center Foundation and Elwyn Institute.
Their pride and joy is The Pennsylvania Institute of Technology (P.I.T.), a Middle States-accredited college in Media and center city Philadelphia, founded by Walter R. Garrison in 1953. This is where the couple devotes much of each day, supporting the educational and personal development of their students.
The couple recognizes the importance of Riddle having the best trained and highly skilled nursing staff and will create The Jayne and Walter Garrison Fund for Nursing Excellence. As the hospital moves towards applying for Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the nation’s most distinguished recognition for nursing excellence, this gift will greatly enhance the continuing education and certification of the nursing staff, a major component in providing the superior patient experience that Riddle promises to deliver.
