Join Bryn Mawr Hospital physicians as they apply their clinical insight to some of Hollywood’s most fascinating films! This fall, Bryn Mawr Hospital is partnering with the Bryn Mawr Film Institute for it third annual “What’s Up, Doc?” film series. Each film will be introduced by a Bryn Mawr Hospital physician, who will reveal each film in a new and fascinating light.

The Lost Weekend

Based on the novel of the same name by Charles R. Jackson, The Lost Weekend recounts the heartbreaking life of writer Don Birnam as he struggles with his undeniable addiction to the bottle. Billy Wilder (Double Indemnity) directs Ray Milland in an Oscar-winning performance as the lamentable Birnam in one of the first Hollywood films to address alcoholism as a disease. This screening will be introduced by Dr. Marina Cooney, Main Line Health hospitalist and medical director for the Center for Addictive Diseases.
