Vestibular Rehabilitation, a therapeutic program that manages the effect
of dizziness and imbalance, is another specialty of the Main Line Health
Outpatient Rehabilitation Network.
The vestibular system can be affected by inner ear disorders, stroke,
head injury, or other neurologic problems, such as vertigo. Our
specialty trained and experienced therapists teach patients to manage
the effects of dizziness by helping the inner ear respond to changes in
your body position.
Treatment may include physical and/or occupational therapy and focuses
on sensorimotor retraining. This method teaches your body to sense when
may go into a dizzy state and how to react. Visual exercises, home
exercises, and education for both the patient and his/her family are
also valuable. Treatment plans provide the tools necessary for symptom
management. Management of the problem enables our patients to return to
a functional lifestyle and to eventually be able to manage the disorder
on their own.
Often, these disorders interfere with the daily life of our
patients—from work to play to household responsibilities. Our goal is
your goal. The Main Line Health Outpatient Rehabilitation Network aims
to educate with their job or household responsibilities. All of our
patients educated about this problem and armed with ways to manage this
