Goal of Watchful Waiting for CLL

The goal of this approach is to watch the leukemia closely to see if it progresses or starts to cause any symptoms. If it does not, it may be better to wait to begin any type of treatment, particularly those that cause severe side effects.

Watchful waiting may be recommended in the following situations:

  • You have stage 0 CLL.

  • You have stage I CLL with few or no symptoms.

  • You have stage II CLL with few or no symptoms.
