Paoli Hospital One Day Prepared Childbirth

When registering, please use the mother's name only and date of birth. 1registry per couple This one-day class is an alternative for couples who are unable to attend the three-week series due to time constraints or fluctuating schedules. The content is the same as the Prepared Childbirth series, but taught in an accelerated fashion.

If you are registering for a 3 week or One Day Prepared Childbirth Class, please do not register for a separate tour, as a tour is included in your class. The hospital tours are reserved for expectant couples. Other family members can visit you in maternity after the arrival of your new baby

You should bring 2 bed pillows to the class. There will be a break for lunch, but lunch is not included in the registration fee. You may bring a lunch or purchase something in the cafeteria.

In the event of inclement weather or to check for any possible last minute class changes, please call the MLH Birth and Beyond Class Cancellation Phone Line at 484 - 565 - 1462.. This number will confirm whether or not class will be held, as well as plans to reschedule. The decision to cancel a class/tour is made by 4:30pm for evening classes/tours and 7:30am for Saturday classes.

Heartsaver AED Course

Community CPR - Heartsaver AED Course

This Two Day American Heart Association course teaches CPR and AED use in adults and children, relief of choking in adults and children, and CPR and choking in infants. This program is designed for non-healthcare providers. Participants receive an American Heart Association certification upon completion which is valid for two years. Must be 12yrs or older.

Breast Surgery Class RH

Unite Support Group - Riddle Memorial Hospital

UNITE recognizes that parents need to grieve following the death of their baby through emotional support and parent–to–parent sharing on issues related to their loss. Even when the child’s life was brief, parents feel the normal, painful, response of grieving. This can be particularly lonely when the baby was not yet known to family and friends.

We invite anyone who has experienced a miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth, or infant death to attend our free monthly UNITE Support Group. This group is guided by a trained facilitator, but the meetings are not group therapy sessions. UNITE can assist in referral if additional professional support is needed.

Diabetes and You Evening Program

Riddle Memorial Hospital is pleased to offer a program designed to help members of the community gain better management of their diabetes. This program has been recognized as having met National Standards for Patient Education in Diabetes from the American Association of Diabetes Educators.

Riddle's 2012 Diabetes program is presented by a professional health care team of:
-Certified Diabetes Nurse Educator
-Registered Dietitian
-Podiatrist
-Pharmacist
-Exercise Physiologist

Patients receive:
-Individualized meal plan
-Nutrition education focusing on blood sugar and cholesterol management
-Instruction in blood glucose monitoring
-Basic knowledge of diabetes self-management skills

The cost for the classes is covered by most insurance, including Medicare, Blue Cross, Keystone, US Healthcare and many private insurance carriers. A referral or prescription may be required. (Please check with your individual insurance company.) Family members are encouraged to attend free of
charge.

Classes focus both on the physical and emotional aspects of labor and delivery with an emphasis on breathing and relaxation techniques. The instructor will discuss the natural progression of labor and delivery, provide information on labor including medication and anesthesia options, discuss the role of support person, prepare participants for the possibility of cesarean birth.

Lankenau AARP 55 Alive Safe Driving

This is a refresher course on the knowledge and skills required for safe driving. It meets on 2 days, for 4 hours each day. Topics will include:
Defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws and rules of the road.
Adjusting your driving to compensate for age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time.
How to handle problem situations such as turning left, yielding right-of-way, avoiding trucks, identifying blind spots and driving safely on highways.
There is a fee of $14 for this class (or $12 for AARP members), which will be collected by the instructor on the first day. Most insurance companies will give a 5% discount after completion of this course. Consult your insurance company to confirm that they offer this discount.

There will be a break for lunch. No road test or written test will be given.
