Construction of the new and expanded Emergency Department continues
inside the walls of the hospital.
The final phases of construction are taking place in the main Emergency
Department with the construction of private treatment rooms,
nurses' stations and private consultation rooms.
The New Emergency Department at Riddle Hospital
Riddle Hospital’s high-quality programs and commitment to compassionate
care have led to more demand for its services. This is especially true
in the Emergency Department (ED), which handles the widest variety of
injuries and illnesses – from heart attacks and strokes to serious
accidents, fractures and asthma attacks.
To better serve its rapidly growing community and maintain the highest
standards, Riddle Hospital is significantly expanding its Emergency
Department – with an emphasis on patient and family comfort, efficiency
and safety. Construction of the $15 million, state-of-the-art facility
is expected to be complete in the fall of 2014.
The need for a larger, more modern ED is clear. The hospital’s current
facility was built to handle 22,000 patients a year. Today, the ED
routinely treats 32,000 patients annually – a number projected to rise
to 50,000 within the next several years.
Without expansion, this increased patient load would make it challenging
to provide care in a private, efficient manner. The new ED will help
ensure a better patient experience and more rapid care.
