you for your interest in the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at
Bryn Mawr Hospital. Our program is the oldest community hospital-based
program in the nation, training residents since 1938. We currently admit
four residents per year for a total of 16 residents.
Our program conforms to all guidelines of the Residency Review Committee
(RRC) of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education
(ACGME). Under the old system, we last received full re-accreditation
for the maximum of five years in April 2008. Since July 2013 we have
participated in ACGME’s new Next Accreditation System (NAS) and will
have our first Self-Study Visit in November 2017.
We are continually adapting our program to the evolving needs of
resident education with new opportunities for training. For example, we
recently incorporated Trauma/ER Radiology into our curriculum, taking
advantage of the Level 2 Trauma Center at Paoli Hospital, and added an
elective in Interventional Neuroradiology after the recent establishment
of an Interventional Stroke Program at Bryn Mawr Hospital that serves
the entire Main Line Health System.
Currently, we are updating both the Didactic and Clinical Curriculum in
response to the new American Board of Radiology core examination in the
late third year. In particular, we are revamping the two-year core noon
lecture series to include topics on the business of radiology and
healthcare reform and building in a dedicated three-month
“mini-fellowship” in any chosen sub-specialty during the fourth year.
The quality of our program is demonstrated by the consistently
successful performance of our residents on the ABR examinations.
Furthermore, our residents have an outstanding track record of securing
post-graduate training at the some of the most competitive fellowship
By participating in our residency program, you will begin your radiology
career in a very collegial atmosphere with a core group of seasoned
radiologists, all with subspecialty training, who have a strong
commitment to education and training. At Bryn Mawr Hospital, you will be
housestaff in a highly regarded community hospital that serves a large
general patient population and is located in one of the most beautiful
suburban settings in the country. This combination of highly qualified
faculty and a comprehensive scope of clinical cases create a stimulating
learning environment for our residents.
We hope that the information on the website will encourage you to apply
to our program via ERAS. If you have any questions, please do not
hesitate to call 484.337.3436.
