Thriving in the Face of Cancer: A Ten-Session Online
The Seven Pillars of Personal Recovery™
What is it?
A proven method to not only take your life back from cancer, but to
actually thrive. Based on The Seven Pillars of Personal Recovery™, this
ten-session, online, coping skills training course is designed to help
Improve your quality of life by becoming an
empowered patient or caregiver
Feel Better physically, mentally emotionally and
Integrate powerful self-care practices into your daily
Connect to a community of patients and caregivers
dedicated to living fully in the face of cancer. … all
from the comfort of your own home!
How does it work?
The program gives you a new set of powerful skills for taking control of
your cancer journey. You and eleven other patients and/ or caregivers
come together in Online Training Groups via phone or video conference
(your choice) and are guided through a 10-session skills training course
by a specially trained Pillar Guide. THIS IS NOT A SUPPORT GROUP. Each
session is one hour and fifteen minutes and is a highly structured,
solution focused, psycho-educational experience that teaches concrete
tools for living fully in the presence of illness and fostering a sense
of inner peace in the midst of a crisis.
How do we know it works? Thousands of patients have told us it works and a 2008 study at
The Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center validated what patients were
saying. Patients in the Duke Study, who were taught the tools of The
Seven Pillars of Personal Recovery™ curriculum, perceived their
quality-of-life as improved across a range of symptoms including
distress, despair, helplessness, hopelessness and fatigue – in spite of
the fact that their disease was progressing. Pillars4Life takes the same
standardized curriculum from the Duke Study and teaches it in Online
Training Groups, giving patients and their family caregivers the added
benefit of broadening their network of support while learning the
transformational tools of the program.
