The practice of psychiatry relates to the art and science of helping people to care for people's emotional, psychological and social issues. I provide psychotherapy and/or psychopharmacology to individuals depending on their psychiatric conditions, wishes, and needs. I specialize in forensic psychiatry, which involves the interface between psychiatry and the law. I perform evaluations of individuals related to civil issues and criminal issues.
I completed medical school at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine (now the Perelman School of Medicine) in 1982. I then completed a one-year medical internship at St. Elizabeth's Hospital of Boston, followed by a three-year psychiatry residency at Beth Israel Hospital of Boston and one additional year as chief resident in psychiatry. I have been practicing clinical psychiatry since completing my residency training in 1987.
