(January 2008; Paoli, PA)--Barbara Tachovsky, President, Paoli Hospital, at left, receives the Pillar Award from Helen Heidelbaugh, President and CEO,
Community Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM), West Chester. Paoli Hospital was chosen as a recipient of this award due to its continuous
support of CVIM, as well as its commitment to providing radiology services at no cost to patients who qualify and other support
services.
CVIM was formed by the initial venture capital and leadership of the Trustees of the Paoli Hospital Foundation, the Hospital's
Auxiliary, and other benefactors. It was founded to provide healthcare, hope and healing to those who otherwise have no access
to medical care.
CVIM opened its doors and saw its first patients on May 18, 1998. This was made possible by the initial venture capital and
leadership of Trustees of the Paoli Hospital Foundation, the Hospital's Auxiliary, and other benefactors. CVIM is entirely
supported by philanthropy, receives no insurance reimbursement and is not a part of any government-funded program. Services
are provided by health care professionals and others who volunteer their time and are supported through gifts made by individuals,
foundations, corporations, churches, civic groups and the Chester County government.
