Paoli Hospital Paoli Hospital Begins Major Expansion with Groundbreaking of New Parking Garage PAOLI, PA (April 17, 2006) - Paoli Hospital broke ground for a new 737 space parking garage on Monday, April 17, as part of a major expansion to build a four-story facility that will increase the hospital’s square footage from 259,000 to 487,000.
Celebrating the event are from left: William Greer, MD, incoming President of the Paoli Hospital Medical Staff; Norman McQueen, Willistown Township Board of Supervisors; Hugh Murray, Willistown Township Manager; Barbara Tachovsky, President, Paoli Hospital; Jack Lynch, President & CEO, Main Line Health; JoAnn Magnatta, Senior Vice President, Main Line Realty; Rita Reeves, Township Planning Commission Chairperson; David Rawson, Chairman, Willistown Township Board of Supervisors; and Tom Fillippo, Chairman, Paoli Hospital Foundation. Groundbreaking for the new building is scheduled for the winter of 2007 when the parking garage is completed. The new pavilion will house a new emergency department with separate ambulance and drive up entrances; a surgical department with 14 operating rooms; additional inpatient beds, a critical care area; and a new arrival area connecting the new wing to the existing hospital. The project is being managed by HSC Builders and Construction in Exton, PA. ### Editors Note: Paoli Hospital originated in 1913 as the Homeopathic Hospital of Chester County. In 1945, the hospital was renamed Memorial Hospital in honor of those who served in World War II. In 1968 the hospital moved to its current 43-acre Paoli location at 255 W. Lancaster Avenue and named Paoli Memorial Hospital, until recently when it became Paoli Hospital. Paoli Hospital is part of Main Line Health, which also consists of Bryn Mawr and Lankenau Hospitals; Bryn Mawr Rehab; Main Line Clinical Laboratories; the Main Line Health Centers; Lankenau Institute of Medical Research; The Home Care Network; Great Valley Health, a primary care and specialist network; and the Wayne Center, a skilled nursing facility.
