Year after year, Paoli Hospital, its physicians, nurses and staff are recognized by their peers in the medical community, by the media and by leading health care organizations for their clinical excellence, quality and professionalism and for their commitment to patient service.
Following are just a few of the recent honors and acknowledgements that have been bestowed upon Paoli Hospital and the professionals who work here.
Paoli Hospital has been named a 2014 Guardian of Excellence Award winner by Press Ganey for Patient Experience in Inpatient Care. The hospital received this distinction by reaching the 95th percentile for each reporting period for the award year in patient satisfaction. Paoli also received the award last year for Patient Satisfaction. Press Ganey partners with more than 10,000 health care facilities, including more than half of all U.S. Hospitals, to measure and improve the patient experience. The Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award is a health care industry symbol of achievement. Fewer than five percent of Press Ganey’s clients reach this threshold and consistently maintain it for the one year reporting period.
The American Heart Association recognizes Paoli Hospital with a silver award for achieving 85 percent or higher composite adherence to all Mission: Lifeline STEMI Receiving Center Performance Achievement indicators for consecutive 90-day intervals, 75 percent or higher compliance on all Mission: Lifeline STEMI Receiving Center quality measures to improve the quality of care for STEMI patients.
Main Line Health hospitals—Lankenau Medical Center, Bryn Mawr Hospital, Paoli Hospital and Riddle Hospital—earned distinction in several categories in the first ever U.S. News & World Report “Best Hospitals for Common Care” ratings. According to a press release from U.S. News & World Report, these latest rankings evaluated how more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide performed on routine individual procedures and conditions.
Patients can look up any U.S. hospital at no cost at usnews.com to see how it rates in three common operations—heart bypass, hip replacement and knee replacement—and two widespread chronic conditions—congestive heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD. Paoli Hospital was recognized as “High Performing” for both heart failure and COPD.
U.S. News & World Report evaluates hospitals based on more than 25 quality measures and analysis of more than five million patient records, taking into account each patient’s health conditions, age, sex, socioeconomic status and other factors affecting risk. The ratings rely on Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services data for patients 65 and older, as well as data from the American Hospital Association annual survey and clinical registry data from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
Among nation’s top performers on key quality measures for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, stroke and surgical care.

The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association recognize Paoli Hospital for their commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of stroke care by ensuring that stroke patients receive treatment according to nationally accepted standards and recommendations.

Paoli is Chester County’s only trauma center. With our highly-trained and skilled trauma team available 24/7, critical care can be provided immediately to patients in Chester County and surrounding areas.
Paoli consistently earned the accreditation from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care for demonstrating a higher level of expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients who may be experiencing a heart attack.
The Wound Healing Center has been certified by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) for its Hyperbaric Medicine Program. The UHMS recognized the Center for its high performance and standards of care, as it demonstrated a commitment to excellent patient care and facility safety. The Center is the first in Southeastern Pennsylvania to receive this distinction.
